As time passes, the situation in New Orleans worsens.
Occupied buildings are now in flames, with no way for firefighters to get to these buildings in time to save all the people inside.
Armed gangs are roaming the flooded areas, which once were streets, and the looting and danger to potential rescuers continues.
People walk the elevated freeways, hoping for help, but there is no one to help, and no one to ask where to look for help.
The elderly, the sick, and infants have already begun to die for lack of the kind of aid they need. The simplest things – clean drinking water, food, and some relief from the oppressive heat, are impossible to get.
Civil authorities and charitable organizations are unable to help in the ways they could. Even though the US Navy has begun some operations for the relief effort, like any other massive government operation, their operation will take time.
What is needed is an act of God.
So I ask that Christian bloggers everywhere pray for those trapped in this seemingly insoluble situation, that somehow in His wisdom, the Lord will send help to those who need it so desperately. Please ask your readers to join in this effort, and let us know with a trackback or in the comments that you’ve joined in!
The awesome power of prayer may serve to provide the only hope available for some. With the Lord’s help, we can succeed where others have failed.
