Model Changeover

Look for things to be relatively quiet here over the next week as we retool and perform "model changeover."

We've got a new computer coming, which has already begun arriving in bits and pieces. This time it'll require a full reconfiguration of office space, as we're keeping the old one in order to give husband Paul his shot at the Internet.

Other things are happening, too. There will be big news in several areas once we get everything organized!

Watch this space!

Bloggers and the Big3

Adam Curry has some interesting points on cooperation between bloggers and the Big 3. Worth thinking about!

My Sweet Lord

Today is the date of the nationwide release of The Passion of the Christ.

It's also the birthday of George Harrison, who got a whole generation thinking about religion and spirituality. He would've been 61 today.

CHAT WITH AUTHORS AND EDITORS OF TRISKELION PUBLISHING

Hi, authors and writers:
As you probably noticed, Authors Secrets is on a hiatus, as the internet radio station ceased airing, but we are looking for a new home and will let you know.

In the meantime, we are inviting all of you to participate in a chat with the authors and editors at TRISKELION PUBLISHING, a new publisher for women's fiction (Romance, fantasy, horror, mysteries, historical, Science-fiction etc). This is your chance to ask the questions directly.

DATE OF CHAT: Wednesday, February 25, at 9pm EST (means 6pm on the west coast, 7pm in Arizona, etc. you do the math.)
Place: WWW.ROMANCEJUNKIES.COM
Click on Chat at the bottom of the page then follow the directions to participate.

Hope to get a chance to talk to you guys there. This is a great place to get a feel for a new publisher, its editors, and the authors already writing for them. Triskelion is publishing in electronic format followed by print books. Find out more about them at www.triskelionpublishing.com

Talk to you tomorrow night on the chat.

Book Crazy Radio Goes Dark!

For those of you who are fans of the variety of book-related programs on Book Crazy Radio, I'm sad to say the site has gone down for good. If anybody's interested in getting another book radio site going, let me know!

Meanwhile, if you miss your book people by voice, check out the Dragon Page, which has an on-air radio program hosted at KFYI in Phoenix. this also comes in streaming audio!

NaNoEdMo

Well, kids, now we've got National Novel Editing Month. This is a lot like the NaNoWriMo, where you write a novel in a month. This one calls for editing a first draft in 50 hours.

What's next -- NaNoProMo? Promote a novel in a month? Now that has a nice ring to it...

How to Be a Better Food Writer

eGullet is most often thought of as the definitive site on food. But look at the Culinary Institute section! There's a great piece on food writing I thought was spot on.

You probably have to sign up for the forum, but if you're interested in food writing, you'll be interested in food, and there's a lot there to wallow in! (At least that's what I did!) ;>)

The Return of Michael LaRocca

Here's the latest from Michael LaRocca, American writer living in China. Pity he's still on e-mail. Many of his subscribers (including me) thought he'd dropped off the face of the earth after an e-mail program glitch lost some e-mail addies. Anyway, here it is in its entirety:
