BlogPulse - Automated Trend Discovery for Weblogs

BlogPulse Key Phrases, Key People, BlogBites, and Top Links are mined daily from new entries in over 750,000 weblogs using machine learning algorithms and natural language processing techniques. BlogPulse mines for bursty phrases and person names instead of for the most popular ones. The most popular phrases and names change very slowly over time. The burstiest phrases and names are those whose frequency of occurrence has increased significantly over the past two weeks, often dramatically.

I'm not quite sure what to make of this -- go to Top Links, and most of blogs they quote seem to be at Blogspot, Live Journal, and really obscure blogs. Am I missing something here??? It seems kind of arbitrary. I wonder how they choose the blog linked for "Sample Context."

Linkage, Promo, and Readership

Dean Esmay has some thoughtful commentary, as well as pretty good discussion + ideas from his readers, on increasing your readership and etcetera. Tobacco Road Fogey is also continuing his series on surviving it all.

Now I'm wondering -- how much will the technique change as time goes by? Will overall increased blog readership, combined with more subject-specific blogs make a difference in the way we promote and get noticed?

A Few Days' Quiet

I'll actually be spending the next few days building more blogs, if you can believe that! ...and writing. I've set myself a deadline of June 4 to finish my latest book, and by golly I intend to do it!

We didn't make it as one of his cool blogs (sigh) but one our cool AZ companies, Stealthmode Partners, got a well-deserved mention. I know some of the people at Stealthmode, and I'm proud to say they do a lot to promote tech and small business in AZ.

I did make the list of Bzz agents helping to get the word out on Free Prize Inside, and that's some consolation ;>)
